Boy in the Bubble

One of the cornerstone songs of my generation's childhood. It showcases the mantra, "These are the days of miracle and wonder."

The WAY we look to The Song, indeed:

intense heat of the Sun (our star), the blast of an IED, and the heat of our Pop Stars, is mirrored by the extreme disconnect of distant star dying in the corner of the sky, the long distance call (that blew the bomb in the baby carriage?), and the boy in the bubble (who's equally famous if only for his 15 minutes).

This is the kind of muddled world that Simon, on the album's next track, believes will be synthesized with a trip to Graceland.
